Since moving to New Hamburg, ON in 2007, I have tried to play an active role in the community.
I am currently serving my second two-year term on the executive of the New Hamburg Board of Trade, and I am one of the key members of its marketing committee. I redesigned the organization's logo and two websites at a greatly reduced rate, and now I update it for free.
I support the Board of Trade's community events by donating design work for the annual Santa Claus Parade, Sidewalk Sale Day, and Canada Day Duck Race.
After the devastating local floods in the winter of 2008/2009, I served as vice-chair of the New Hamburg Flood Relief Fund, which raised $60,000.00 to assist those whose homes were affected.
I also donated a logo and advertising designs for the town's 150th anniversary celebrations.
Whenever possible, I donate my services free of charge to local non-profits and charities. I designed, produced and host the website for the New Hamburg Lionesses' Welcome Home Tour in 2008 - its inaugural year - and this year.
I designed a website for Kitchener Waterloo Habilitation Services for free, and now I update it for half my usual rate.
So that I could be involved in the local political process, I donated a website to the campaign of Wilmot mayor candidate, Paul Knowles.
I supported local arts and culture with a free website and hosting for the Harry Potter Festival.
From 2006 to 2010, I designed and updated the website for local Junior C hockey team, the New Hamburg Firebirds. |
