Thinking globally, acting locally - Creative Latitude launches
worldwide
Creative Latitude, an ambitious Web project that promotes creative
professionals around the globe, has launched with a site designed
and developed by Nigel Gordijk.
The Creative Latitude site - www.creativelatitude.com - promotes the services of graphic designers, writers, illustrators,
photographers and Web developers. It also educates service buyers
about the creative process and business issues related to creative
activities.
Amongst Creative Latitude's features are:
Member Profiles: helpful details for creative service buyers
Articles: covering all aspects of creative business
Resources: an extensive library of links for service buyers
and providers
The concept originated online in the About.com Graphic Design forum
with individuals from several different countries expressing an
interest in the idea of an international marketing campaign.
A three-person management was elected, comprising of Catherine
Morley (Brunei), Neil Tortorella (Ohio, USA) and Nigel Gordijk (Brighton,
England). Ms Morley acted as project manager; Mr Tortorella wrote
the bulk of the copy; and Mr Gordijk provided the site's design
and development services, as well as the organisation's name. In
addition, the site is hosted in Virginia, USA.
People apply for membership on the site, but their applications
are considered by a six-person vetting committee before their details
are added to the directory. Currently, Creative Latitude has representatives
in the UK, USA, Brunei, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa.
