Press Release #1: Downtown Kitchener goes wild for Hair United 2010
Downtown Kitchener went wild for an exciting new couture hair and fashion show this fall.
Kitchener-based hair stylist Lina Shamoun – founder and owner of Artline Salon – created the event, which premiered Sunday, November 21.
“The idea behind Hair United is to bring together an eclectic group of neighbouring hair salons,” says Shamoun, 26. “I’m fortunate to take part in industry competitions around the world, but I realized I don’t know much about other salons and stylists that are closer to home.”
Hair United celebrated the shared talent, creativity and community of the local hair-styling industry. Taking part were Artline Salon, Cucci Cabello, So Chic Studio, Hot Heads Salon, Fad Hair Studio, Salon 126, Oiseau Salon, Acqua Salon, and St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centre.
The result was an exciting show of varied styles that showcased all the participants' imagination and skill. The audience of more than 270 guests - including clients, friends and family members - showed their appreciation with plenty of cheering and loud applause. Hair United received significant coverage in the local media, including Rogers TV and Snap magazine.
Other entertainment included a belly-dancer, a comedian and a D.J. Appetizing food and drink, donated by local establishments, was served during the interval.
The event was also held as a benefit for TheMuseum, which was the venue for the evening, and raised over $9,500 from ticket sales, a silent auction, and the sale of products donated by industry suppliers.
